The organisation known as the Gemmological Association of Great Britain (Gem-A), has been providing gem and jewellery education for more than a century. It all started with the first gem course suggested for the UK jewellery sector in 1908. The acclaimed Gemmology and Diamonds Diplomas — taught in seven different languages and 26 countries across the globe. The diplomas are recognised worldwide for their high level of knowledge and expertise.
Gem-A is a worldwide community of gem professionals and lovers that was founded in 2003. By providing high-quality teaching on courses and providing financial support for worldwide gemmological research, and servicing the interests of the gem and jewellery sectors. Members may also take advantage of membership benefits, such as the opportunity to purchase gemmological equipment, as well as a variety of events and conferences throughout the year. The Gem-A also publish two globally distributed journals, The Journal of Gemmology and Gems&Jewellery.
