This year, jewellery has been bold and eye-catching, and plenty of designers have made their mark. Here’s our pick of talented young things to keep your eye as the year develops.
Emma Franklin
Emma’s hand-crafted zoological jewellery has been a popular choice this year – her solid silver designs with black rhodium or 22ct gold plating are set to be hot to be purchased too! Treat yourself to her Triceratops Necklace or Rhino Cufflinks for something a bit different.
Xin Ran Lu
Jewellery brand Xin is a collaboration between designers Jones and Bowen, and their high-concept design pieces are rather special. The ‘Shan-Shi’ collection is inspired by the mountain lion, and each piece’s fresh, geometric style ensures you’ll be leading the fashion pack.
Ikuria
Japanese designer Ikuko Kurahone‘s jewellery range aimed at modern businesswomen has been a huge success this year and recently featured at London Jewellery Week’s Treasure exhibition. Her versatile, delicate pieces have a contemporary feel – the ‘Supernova’ earrings with tiny bejewelled stars and unique aquamarine crystals would make a perfect gift.
Alice Menter
Also, part of the Treasure exhibition at Somerset House recently was emerging designer Alice Menter, whose jewellery is inspired by time spent in Thailand. Her cool designs have been seen adorning celebrities from Little Mix to Rita Ora, and she works with metals without the need for soldering, using everyday items such as zips and bolts to construct her unusual pieces.
