There are many attractions surrounding the diamond quarter of Hatton Garden in Central London. High Holborn is a road in Holborn, on the southern border of Hatton Garden. It forms part of the major artery that is the A40 and offers many shopping opportunities. High Holborn starts in the west as a turn off Charing Cross Road, near St Giles Circus, and runs past the Kingsway and Southampton Row. High Holborn becomes Holborn at its eastern junction with Gray’s Inn Road. It was originally a Roman road.

High Holborn is mentioned in Adrian Mitchell’s poem Celia, Celia:

I think of you with nothing on.

There are many top restaurants on High Holborn including Shanghai Blues that would be an ideal destination following a shopping trip for diamonds and other jewellery in Hatton Garden. There are also many opportunities to visit the theatre in the evening. Two minutes from High Holborn is New London Theatre. The New London Theatre opened its doors in 1973, making it one of the West End’s newest theatres. The building is sleek and impressive, with a stunning mirrored facade.

Getting to High Holborn could not be easier. The nearest London Underground stations are Tottenham Court Road, Holborn and Chancery Lane which are all on the Central line. The tunnel of the Central line actually runs directly beneath High Holborn. From there it is only a short walk to the jewellery shops in Hatton Garden.
