Staff keep their training current through seminars, lectures and advanced gemological studies, including the Fellowship (FGA) through the Gemological Association of Great Britain (Gem-A). Diamond colour is graded on the lack of colour. A pure, structurally perfect diamond has no hue, like a drop of clear water, which raises its value. The D to Z scale assesses colour by comparing a stone against master stones of established value. Cut is about how well a diamond's facets interact with light, which takes precise workmanship to get the proportions, symmetry and polish right. Clarity comes down to the internal inclusions and external blemishes formed as the diamond grew under heat and pressure; the closer to pure, the higher the value. Carat weight measures how much a diamond weighs, with one metric carat set at 200 milligrams and each carat divided into 100 points for stones below a carat.

More InfoOn Hatton Garden, Hatton Garden Buyers - Gold Jewellery Buyer is a buying desk for gold and jewellery at 23 Hatton Garden, at the southern end of the street toward Holborn Circus, in a third floor unit. The format is built for speed: pieces come in, the metal is tested and weighed, and a cash offer comes back inside the visit rather than after a wait. What gets bought and howThe desk pays cash for gold jewellery, luxury watches and antique pieces brought in to the shop, with the offer pegged to the day's spot rate or to a workbench valuation for finished pieces. A typical visit runs in three steps: a visual inspection and metal-test on the piece, weight on a calibrated scale, and a quoted price tied to the live spot rate for gold on the day. Most sellers expect a same-visit payout rather than a delayed bank-transfer settlement, and the format is built around that turnaround. Watch purchases extend to named brands including Cartier, Omega and Rolex, which are usually inspected on the bench rather than weighed on the scale.Brand range, trade signals and same-visit formatTrade accreditations on the shop's own published copy include Assay-Office, GIA and NAJ. Those credentials matter most for insurance valuations, written gem reports and for buyers who want an independent grade on a stone before it is set or sold.Visits and contactOpening hours are not yet published in a structured form on the captured source; calling or emailing ahead is the practical step before a visit. Direct lines for booking a visit or asking about a piece include a social presence on Facebook, Instagram, X. Most visits are walk-in, but for higher-value pieces a quick call ahead lets the desk prepare and the seller plan around the day's spot rate.

More InfoA valuation is simply an independent, written assessment of what a piece is worth, and what it is worth depends on why you need it. Insurance, probate, resale, or your own records all call for different figures. The valuers in this category examine jewellery properly and issue reports that insurers and other third parties will accept, with clear descriptions, condition notes and photographs where required.
A good valuer weighs the gemstones on the four Cs, carat weight, cut, colour and clarity, then the metal type and purity, the quality of the work, and any hallmarks or maker's marks. The 12 specialists listed here can also tell you which type of valuation you actually need, since a replacement value for insurance is rarely the same as a market figure for sale or estate matters.
Diamond and metal prices move, so it is sensible to refresh a valuation every few years, and insurers often ask for current paperwork at renewal. If a stone needs a fresh grading report rather than a value, the gemmological certification specialists are the ones to see. Browse the valuers below and book an appointment.
